The Center on Colfax is the largest LGBTQ+ community center in the Rocky Mountain region. The nonprofit provides a robust array of year-round programming and resources at no cost, including mental health services, support groups, social and community building events, and educational workshops. The Center serves LGBTQ+ individuals ages 10-99+ with dedicated programming for trans and gender diverse people, queer youth, LGBTQ+ elders, and everyone in between. The Center on Colfax also produces Denver Pride every summer. The 550,000 person festival serves as The Center’s largest annual fundraiser.

In February 2023, I joined The Center’s team as a Communications and Marketing Manager. In my role, I strategically planned and executed the organization’s editorial calendar, creating assets for social media, newsletters, blog posts, fundraising campaigns, website content, brochures, and print materials. I managed the competing communications priorities of The Center’s eight programs, maintaining organization during demanding periods of time. I identified opportunities for and wrote impactful storytelling pieces to fulfill the organization’s narrative and fundraising goals and utilized diligent proofreading and editing skills.

In 2025, I was promoted to Senior Manager of Public Relations and Communications. In this new role, I continued my previous duties while taking on the organization’s media and crisis communications needs. I developed press releases and talking points, both in rapid response situations to address breaking news and in proactive situations to fulfill the organization’s messaging pillars and strategy. I supported the CEO and Board of Directors by promoting and managing strategic media placement and advertising opportunities, establishing a spokesperson when necessary and fostering relationships with reporters and publications.
